Landholders

What happens if voluntary land access consent is not reached?

Our aim is to always work with landholders to reach an agreement to access your property with your consent, however providing your consent is voluntary. If you do not wish to provide consent for us to access your property, we can access your property to undertake field surveys and investigations under section 93 of the Electricity Industry Act 2000 (Vic) (Act).

We will send you a notice of access at least 20 business days after providing information on proposed access including rights and obligations and at least 10 business days before the planned access. The notice of access provides affected parties with information about the proposed land access including the access period and proposed access dates. We will also provide a reminder for each proposed access at least 48 hours prior, which may be communicated in person, through telephone, email, or text message.

We will comply with all applicable laws including the Electricity Industry Act 2000 (Vic) and Essential Services Commission Land Access Code of Practice in accessing your property.

More information about the process where voluntary consent is not provided is outlined in the Landholder Guide: Land access for field surveys and investigations.
