What is the wider community benefit?

The proposed transmission line will put downward pressure on electricity costs while providing Victorian communities with access to renewable energy.

From a regional perspective, this project will provide more than 650 jobs in construction and significant economic benefits to communities along the route, with many local goods, services and contractors expected to be required throughout construction.

We plan to implement a Community Benefit Fund for the Western Renewables Link project, co-designed in partnership with communities and key project stakeholders. The fund co-design process will seek ideas to maximise impact and identify opportunities to leverage and coordinate with other programs to enhance the value delivered for communities and priorities along the proposed route. The fund framework and assessment criteria will include input from the Western Renewables Link Community Consultation Group and Council Advisory Group as part of the co-design process.
