Proposed route

Why haven’t my concerns about the route of the transmission line been taken into consideration?

In selecting the proposed route, the feedback and concerns of landholders, the community and other stakeholders have informed the project's design and planning, along with land use submissions and findings of technical studies. To date, seven major route alternatives and multiple corridors have been investigated, more than 4,500 individual tower moves and more than 95 changes to the proposed route have been made.

Input about land use, community values and existing conditions has informed the decision-making process as the area of interest was narrowed to multiple corridor options, a single corridor and the proposed route.

The route selection criteria are designed to avoid environmental, social and cultural impacts of the project, specific to the area, landholders and communities. Where impacts are unavoidable, the aim is to minimise the impact of the Western Renewables Link as far as practicable.

There will also be opportunities for landholders, the community and stakeholders to review and provide feedback on the EES when it is finalised.

More information is available in the Environment Effects Statement Fact Sheet.
