Update 10 October: The aerial mapping works outlined below are proceeding today 10 October 2024, after delays due to weather.
AusNet will be conducting aerial mapping and light detection and ranging (LiDAR) surveys near the proposed terminal station site at Bulgana, starting on 1 October 2024, weather permitting.
This work will help AusNet collect updated imagery and mapping of the area to support the design, planning, and approvals process for the Western Renewables Link project.
A light aircraft will collect the data within a two-kilometre wide area at the terminal station site, flying no lower than 700 metres above the ground. The work should take about two hours, with multiple passes needed to gather all the information. We’ve set a 14-day window to complete the flights in case of bad weather, but in good conditions, it will be done in one day.
Pilots will comply with all relevant laws and requirements for undertaking this work, including CASA requirements.
AusNet will send email and SMS updates to local landholders about this flight, where we have their contact details. A confirmation SMS will also be sent on the day of the flight.
If you are a landholder in this area and would like to register your contact details, please contact us at 1800 WRL WRL (975 975) or info@westernrenewableslink.com.au.
