The first meeting of the Western Victoria Transmission Network Community Consultation Groups (CCGs) was held on 28 April. Ms Catherine (Cath) Botta has been appointed as the independent Chair, along with 13 community members.
Ms Botta brings to the role a deep connection with regional Victoria and extensive experience working with local and state government organisations, not-for-profit agencies, and community groups. She is also the current Chair of North East Water.
Ms Botta says she is looking forward to working with the groups as “the CCGs have a critical role to play in understanding community concerns, encouraging discussion and collaboration with the project team, so that the project is the best it can be for the community”.
The purpose of the CCGs is to enhance communication both within the community and between the community and the project. The CCGs will support the flow of information to the community about the project and encourage constructive two-way discussion and feedback between the project, local communities, stakeholders and local Councils.
Interested community members were invited to nominate for the CCGs, as well as attend information sessions facilitated by Ms Botta. Appointments were made based on background, skills, experience, demographics and to achieve a geographical spread across the area of interest. At this stage of the project joint meetings of the three CCGs will be held.
A record of meetings will be made publicly available on the project website at www.westernrenewableslink.com.au
