Community survey
Our engagement activities are designed to provide opportunities for you to have a say in project planning and contribute to the Environment Effects Statement process.
Landholder, community, and stakeholder feedback, combined with the findings of technical studies, field surveys and investigations, have informed the selection of the proposed route and project design since 2020.
Please share your thoughts on what is most important to you via our community survey which is open until 28 October 2024.
Lexton pop-up information session
In response to community feedback, we have extended our engagement program to Lexton and surrounding communities with a pop-up information event on Monday 7 October, 3pm - 7pm at the Lexton Community Hub, 1 Prince St, Lexton.
You can ask questions and learn more about the latest project updates, field survey findings and the project’s Draft Planning Scheme Amendment.
All members of the community are welcome to attend, and registration is not required. Further information is available on our website’s News and Events page.
Thank you to those community members who attended our recent pop-up events in Creswick, Ballarat, Stawell, Beaufort, Bacchus Marsh, Melton and Taylors Lakes.
Environment Effects Statement webpage
We have recently published an Environment Effects Statement Overview webpage on our project website. This includes information about planning and approvals processes, what we know about the existing environmental features and community values in the project area, and findings from important field survey work.
While finalising the Environment Effects Statement, we are working with landholders to confirm the proposed tower and access track locations on their properties. We are also continuing to listen and respond to feedback from the community. You can provide feedback or get in touch about an enquiry via our website’s Contact Us page.
We expect the Environment Effects Statement public exhibition and inquiry, which includes a public hearing, will take place in 2025. Written submissions can be made by anyone during the Environment Effects Statement public exhibition period.
New construction video
We have also published a new video to our website’s Resources page: Constructing overhead transmission lines.
This video explains the process involved in constructing 500kV transmission infrastructure, from access tracks and foundations to testing, commissioning and site rehabilitation.
About the project
The Western Renewables Link is a proposed electricity transmission line that will carry renewable energy from western Victoria to homes and businesses across the state and into the National Electricity Market.
The project is critical infrastructure required to unlock the renewable energy potential of western Victoria as a key Renewable Energy Zone and will help deliver clean and affordable energy to all Victorians.
