The project team gained valuable insight from attendees and enjoyed the opportunity to explain some of the project’s decisions to local communities while learning more about your concerns and listening to your queries.
The Western Renewables Link is a critical infrastructure project that cannot be successfully implemented without input from local communities and the general public, and we will continue to engage with landholders and stakeholders as we progress through the Environment Effects Statement process.
The project hosted a webinar once all in-person sessions were completed to share and discuss what we heard during these discussions. At the request of the community, we also used the webinar to explain the construction of transmission lines and answered questions from attendees.
If you were unable to attend the webinar but would like to hear what was discussed, you can view the recording of the event by clicking here.
If you would like to be notified about future events and community information sessions, you can register your details by emailing info@westernrenewableslink.com.au, calling 1300 360 795 or visiting our website.
In the coming weeks we will follow up with information session attendees who requested further technical information or a visit from a landscape and visual expert to assess visual impacts from their houses.
This week we have also published a new guide for landholders titled ‘Landholder Guide: Land access for field surveys and investigations’ on our website.
The new guide provides information about how we will work with landholders to complete field surveys and investigations on private property in response to the Essential Services Commission’s Statement of Expectations (SoE). The new guide can be downloaded here.
The new guide expands on information that was previously provided in the ‘Landholder Guide: Land access, easements and compensation’ which was also updated in response to the SoE.
About the project
The Western Renewables Link is a proposed electricity transmission line that will carry renewable energy from western Victoria to homes across the state and into the National Electricity Market.
The project is critical infrastructure required to unlock the renewable energy potential of western Victoria as a key Renewable Energy Zone and will help to deliver clean and affordable energy to Victorians.
Once complete, the additional transmission line capacity will carry enough energy to power more than 500,000 homes.
