The Western Renewables Link shortlists potential delivery partners

The proposed Western Renewables Link project has taken an important step in planning this critical project.

We are continuing to gather information that will form part of our submission of the Environment Effects Statement (EES), which is due to be submitted to the State Government later this year for review.

To support our Environment Effects Statement submission, we have shortlisted two potential delivery partners, a joint venture between Acciona Construction Australia and Genus Infrastructure (AGJV) and a joint venture with CPB Contractors and UGL Engineering (CPB UGL JV), for the anticipated construction of the proposed 500kV transmission line between Sydenham and Bulgana.

A key outcome of the Environment Effects Statement process is determining the Environmental Performance Requirements (EPRs). EPRs are the minimum objectives and outcomes that a project must achieve across design, construction and operation. Engaging with potential delivery partners now will provide the opportunity to have the contractors' support in developing the construction methodology that they will build.

We’re still committed to working closely with landholders and local communities throughout the planning and approvals process, and the proposed construction of the project. In early 2025, we’ll provide more information on ways you can participate in the EES process.

We recognise that there is an opportunity for many businesses in the local community to work with our potential delivery partners to support the anticipated construction of the Western Renewables Link. We welcome local businesses, social enterprises and institutional providers to express their interest in servicing the project via our Local Business Register form.

In addition to supporting local businesses, building the Western Renewables Link is estimated to generate 650 full time construction jobs, with more expected at the height of construction, and training opportunities for local communities.
